Pakistan Cricket Board has knocked on the doors of the ICC seeking justice for their captain, Salman Agha, being snubbed from the ICC promotional poster for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.
The ICC T20 World Cup tickets have finally been released online for booking, as the World Cup is just two months from now. The BCCI from India and the SLC from Sri Lanka will be hosting the tournament, and India will defend its title from 2024.
With all teams gearing up for the T20 World Cup, the ICC has revealed an official poster for the T20 World Cup, which features five of the captains from participating teams. It comprises the skippers from India, Australia, South Africa, England, and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan captain snubbed from ICC T20 World Cup's promotional poster
As the promotional poster was released, much like the Asia Cup, the Pakistan team skipper, Salman Agha, has once again not been featured in the poster, and the PCB has expressed dissatisfaction over the same.
The poster, though, featured the likes of Suryakumar Yadav from India, Aiden Markram from South Africa, Dasun Shanaka from Sri Lanka, Harry Brook from England, and Mitchell Marsh from Australia.
PCB official updates on raising the issue to ICC
One of the PCB Sources informed us that they have raised this issue with the ICC and are expecting positive outcomes.
"We faced the same issues when the Asia Cup was held a few months back and that time the broadcasters had started a promotional campaign without our captain featuring in it," the source stated, as quoted by PTI.
"We are facing a similar situation this time as the ICC has not projected our captain on the promotional poster for ticket sales," the source added.
The PCB believes that just like the Asia Cup situation was resolved after having approached the ACC, the issue here would also be resolved with a formal declaration to the ICC. They are optimistic about their inclusion in promotional materials and later campaigns.
Pakistan were knocked out of the ICC T20 World Cup group stages
The Pakistan team did not have the finest of campaigns when they participated in the previous edition of the ICC T20 World Cup back in the United States and the Caribbean. They lost against the USA and were snubbed from the group stage, even failing to advance to the Super-8 stage.
Despite such poor performance and not even featuring in the top 5 rankings on the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings, the PCB considers their team to be one of the top teams that have an immense legacy to feature in the promotional videos. This remains one of the main attractions before the start of the World Cup.
The future promotional campaigns of the ICC will be worth noting, whether they include the Pakistan skipper or continue without him.
