Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his anger over the mishandling of young bowler Ihsanullah's injury by the board officials. Ihsanullah's injury was misdiagnosed, leading to a failed surgery, and prompting criticism from Mohsin Naqvi.

Ihsanullah emerged as a promising talent in the previous Pakistan Super League, showcasing an impressive pace. His standout performances earned him opportunities to represent Pakistan in T20 and ODI matches against Afghanistan and New Zealand, respectively.

Ihsanullah encountered an elbow injury following the New Zealand series last year. As a result, the 21-year-old was unable to participate in crucial tournaments such as the Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023, significantly hindering his career progression.

The young pacer suffered elbow discomfort after falling during a net practice session while bowling. Despite the pain, he played through the series and expressed his desire to participate in upcoming matches against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup 2023.

The young player's recovery has been hindered by a misdiagnosis and unsuccessful surgery in Lahore. Mistakes by PCB officials, including a senior doctor, delayed proper treatment. Eventually, it became evident that specialized care in the UK, funded by his PSL team Multan Sultans, was necessary for his recovery.

Mohsin Naqvi Is Very Upset After This Incident - Report

According to a PCB source, a senior doctor from the board's medical panel initially misdiagnosed the injury, leading to wasted rehabilitation efforts.

The insider disclosed that Mohsin Naqvi is disappointed with the PCB's management of the situation and may initiate disciplinary action against those accountable.

"Mohsin Naqvi is very upset after this incident came out in the open and he came to know about it. Chances are that some of the officials responsible for supervising Ehsan's treatment will find themselves out of jobs very soon," the source close to PCB said.

All Rent and Living Expenses Were Paid By Multan Sultans - Ali Tareen

Multan Sultans' owner, Ali Tareen, revealed that the team covered all expenses for Ihsanullah's treatment abroad and his family's living costs. Tareen expressed that he will be assessed by a renowned surgeon in the UK after spending time with his family.

“While Ihsan was doing rehab in NCA Lahore, he was staying in an apartment with his family. All rent and living expenses were paid by MS. We retained him in the PSL even though he was injured so he could spend time with our Physios and S&C. We are flying him to England this month to be assessed by a world-renowned surgeon. Ihsan is currently back home in Swat because he wanted to spend time with his family before the upcoming UK trip,” Tareen wrote on X.

Ihsanullah Was Initially Misdiagnosed - Ali Tareen

Tareen expressed appreciation for the PCB's approval for Ihsanullah to consult a prominent surgeon in the UK. Tareen stated that he remains hopeful for the surgeon's recommendations.

“He was initially misdiagnosed. Then the surgery wasn’t successful. But atleast the PCB agreed to allow us to get him assessed by an expert in the UK and helped get the visa. Let’s see what the surgeon says,” Tareen wrote.
