India's thumping win over Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 has been pretty much overshadowed by the 'no handshake' controversy. The defending champions completely outplayed the Men in Green to register a 7-wicket win in Dubai on Sunday (September 14).
After the win, the Suryakumar Yadav-led team's unbeaten batsmen - captain Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube - headed straight to the dressing room without the customary handshake with the opposition players.
Indian players shut the door on Pakistan
The Pakistan players waited on the field for the Men in Blue to come out and shake hands, but it never happened. Suryakumar had even avoided the handshake with his Pakistan counterpart, Salman Ali Agha, at the toss.

Following the controversy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has demanded the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft. According to reports, Pycroft had informed the Pakistan skipper that he should avoid approaching Suryakumar for a handshake.
However, PCB were furious with Pycroft for his 'unsportsmanlike' request and wanted ICC to take action against him.
Mohsin Naqvi under the spotlight:
While Pycroft has been facing the wrath of PCB, it has emerged that Pycroft was just following the instructions from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Incidentally, the current PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, is also the ACC chief.
"What has ICC got to do with it? Their role ends when the officials are appointed. Someone from the ACC had a chat with Pycroft before the game, and what happened at the toss was a result of that chat."
"It's about time the PCB chief finds out what that chat was, who did it, and why-instead of pointing fingers at the ICC to further fuel the fire," a source tracking developments told the Times of India.
While PCB has been furious with the entire incident, the Men in Blue's decision not to shake hands with the Pakistan players and coaches does not break any rules of the game. Shaking hands with the opposition is only customary and not mandatory.
No pressure on ICC
"All this talk and posting on social media is good for the optics and narrative back home, but it makes very little sense. If they had a problem with India not shaking hands, even that's not mandatory," the report further claimed.
Meanwhile, India has already booked their spot in the Super 4s after winning their first two games in the Asia Cup 2025. They began their campaign with a 9-wicket win over the UAE before beating Pakistan. India's last group game is against Oman.
