Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has time and again been impressed by Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians have been the most successful franchise in IPL history and one of the most dominant T20 teams in the T20 folklore. Michael Vaughan, who has often found himself in the spotlight, has touted the five-time IPL champions as the best T20 outfit and he would love to play under Rohit Sharma.

Mumbai Indians’ fortunes turned around drastically when Ricky Ponting stepped down as captain midway IPL 2013, making way for Rohit Sharma to lead. Not only did the franchise lift their first trophy that year, but they also went on to win five more competitions in the next seven years. Last year in the UAE, they became only the second IPL team to defend their crown successfully.

When asked which current IPL skipper he would like to play under, Michael Vaughan picked Rohit Sharma and declared the Mumbai Indians as the best T20 side. The 46-year old said that since Rohit is a magnificent leader, having a calm and composed mind with excellent strategies, he could see himself beside the opening batsman.

“Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians, the best T20 team in the world without any question. He is a magnificent leader; he is calm and composed; his strategies are very clever and I could see myself next to Rohit,” Vaughan said as quoted by News18.com.

Nevertheless, contrary to most people’s beliefs, Mumbai Indians could not deliver impressive performances in the shortened IPL 2021. Though they remained at the number four spot, the defending champions’ batting line-up struggled in multiple games. The likes of Quinton de Kock, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav could not produce the exploits that were responsible for their title win last year. But with the second phase of IPL 2021 likely to return to the UAE, the aforementioned players could regain their touch and so could the five-time champions.
