Mumbai Police issues warning whilst India's Open Bus Parade near Marine Drive

Mumbai Police has issued a a public warning ahead of India's Open Bus Parade near the Wankhede stadium which will pass through the Marine Drive on Thursday evening. 

As per the latest reports, Team India have arrived in Mumbai and are on their way to the Wankhede stadium. The roadshow will start at the Air India Building at the iconic Nariman Point and will culminate with a gathering at the Wankhede where the team will be felicitated by the BCCI.

In the process, The Indian players will recreate memories of 2007 when the MS Dhoni-led team also did a similar parade after they won the inaugural T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma and his boys took another 17 years to win the next T20 World Cup title. 

This was India's first ICC Title in 11 years since the last ICC Champions Trophy victory in 2013. This is Rohit's first ICC title as captain after he lost two ICC finals, the WTC final 2023 followed by the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Meanwhile, there is a lot of crowd near Marine Drive and the crowd is getting heavier by the minute. It looks like the entire Mumbai city has joined in near the Marine drive to welcome the Indian players. 

Mumbai Police Issues Warning For Team India's Open Bus Parade

Mumbai Police on their official X-handle has asked the local people of Mumbai to not travel towards Marine Drive due to the jam-packed crowd. 

"Due to the heavy rush of fans around Wankhede Stadium for the Victory Parade of the Indian Cricket Team, citizens are requested to avoid commuting towards Marine Drive," Mumbai Police wrote on their official X handle. 

Team India landed in New Delhi from Barbados via a direct flight on Thursday morning. After winning the T20 World Cup final on June 29, Team India were stuck in Barbados for four days and finally managed to return to New Delhi on July 4. Then then met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence.

Thereafter they left for Mumbai in the afternoon via a chartered flight for the Bus Parade in the evening. The parade was supposed to start around 4.30-5 pm. 

However, due to the crowd that gathered near Marine Drive, the arrival of the Indian players took more time than expected. They will be greeted to a loud cheer by the fans who are patiently waiting to see their heroes at the Wankhede stadium. 

Wankhede Stadium has a deep-rooted history in Indian cricket. That is the venue where India won the 2011 ODI World Cup Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket in 2013 and India lost the 2016 T20 World Cup semi-final to West Indies as well. 

Later tonight at that same venue, Team India will receive heroes welcome by the fans and will also be felicitated by the BCCI. India's ICC title drought finally came to an end with this T20 World Cup win, This was India's first ICC title in 11 years and the first T20 World Cup title since the 2007 T20 World Cup win.
