Murali Vijay Sidelined By Poor Performances And Entry Of Promising Players
Murali Vijay was a popular opener for the Indian cricket team in the past. After the retirements of famous openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, he established himself as the team’s main opener. Vijay was recognised for his dependability in difficult situations, both at home and afar. However, his performance on away tours worsened in 2018, and he was pulled from the team for the 2018-19 tour of Australia.
Vijay has not made a major comeback in the Indian Test team since then. Vijay has not produced enough runs to impress the selectors despite being in contention for a Test comeback. Vijay had fallen behind other promising players such as Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill in the fight to extend his Test career.
