Musheer Khan shatters Sachin Tendulkar's iconic Ranji Trophy record to clinch title of....

Mumbai batter Musheer Khan slammed a century against Vidarbha in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 final. Musheer Khan hit a century in 255 balls. With the ton, he also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record.

With his century, Musheer Khan has led Mumbai to a massive lead over Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy 2024 final. Mumbai has earned a lead of 450-plus runs in the 2nd innings and is en route to a massive victory in the match.

Musheer made a fabulous partnership of 134 runs with skipper Ajinkya Rahane in the 2nd innings. Opener Prithvi Shaw (11) and Bhupen Lalwani (18) fell cheaply at the start. However, Khan enabled the team to a dominating total on the scoreboard.

Musheer Khan breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s record

With his century in the Ranji Trophy final 2024, Musheer Khan has broken Sachin Tendulkar’s record. At 19 years and 14 days, he has become the youngest batter from the Mumbai team to score a ton in the Ranji Trophy final.

In the 1994-95 season, Sachin Tendulkar slammed a century in Ranji Trophy final for Mumbai against Punjab. Tendulkar was a month short of 22 years at that time. Notably, Tendulkar slammed twin centuries in the match to drive the team to victory.

Meanwhile, Vidarbha opted to bowl first in the Ranji Trophy 2024 final. Batting first, Mumbai was bowled out for 224 in the 1st innings. Musheer Khan got out for 6 runs in 1st innings. Later, Vidarbha got out for 105 in 1st innings.

Musheer Khan is the leading run-getter for Mumbai

Other than Musheer Khan, Ajinkya Rahane (73) and Shreyas Iyer (95) also shattered stunning knocks for Mumbai in the 2nd innings. At the end of 2nd session on Day 3, Mumbai reached 349-5 with a lead of 468 runs.

Musheer has showcased a marvelous batting show in the Ranji Trophy 2024. In 5 innings, he has mustered more than 430 runs at a stunning average of 144+. He has shattered 2 tons and 1 fifty. Earlier, the right-handed batter smacked a double ton in the quarter-final. He is also the leading run-getter for Mumbai.

Mumbai crushed Tamil Nadu in semi-final

Meanwhile, Mumbai reached the Ranji Trophy 2024 final after crushing Tamil Nadu in the semi-final. Earlier, they outplayed Baroda in the quarter-final. During the group stage, Mumbai finished in the top spot in the Elite Group B points table.

Mumbai has won Ranji Trophy titles for a record 41 times out of 47 seasons. They are en route to a big victory in the 2024 season. They last won the title in the 2016 season. Vidarbha has won titles on two occasions- 2018 and 2019. Earlier, they defeated Madhya Pradesh in the semi-final to book a berth in the final.
