Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah stays with the team to play the ODIs against Sri Lanka despite assailants attacking his family home in his Lower Dir residence. The only good thing was that none of the family members were reported injured.

The Pakistan team largely depends on their three fast bowlers, who are the backbone of their attack, with Abrar Ahmed and Mohammed Nawaz being the sole spinners in the side. However, it cannot be evaded that Saim Ayub has played a very fine hand with the ball in recent times, often bowling with the new ball alongside skipper Shaheen Afridi.

Still, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah remain the three most sought-after players in the side. Rauf was unfortunately suspended for two games in the South Africa ODI series after the ICC found him guilty with 4 demerit points.

Naseem Shah to stay with Pakistan for Sri Lanka ODIs despite attack on Family residence

On Monday morning, the ANI reported an attack on Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah's family residence in Lower Dir. It was reported that unknown assailants fired at the gate of his family's home and then escaped the scene.

It was reported that none of the members of the house were injured in the attack, and the police immediately launched an investigation. However, it is not yet known who was in the residence at the time of the attack and what the intent of the attackers was.

The Pakistan pacer, though, seems unaffected by the incident and has stayed back with the Pakistan team to feature in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. The three-match ODI series is scheduled to be played from today, the 11th of November, and the attacks took place yesterday, on the 10th of November.

Pakistan named Naseem Shah in the ODI and T20 Tri-series squad

The Sri Lanka home series will mark their arrival in the nation after a span of nearly 6 years. The ODIs will be played between the 11th and 15th of November. This will be followed by a T20I tri-series with Zimbabwe being the third participating team after Afghanistan pulled out of contention.

Pakistan won the T20 and ODI series against South Africa

Naseem Shah has been picked for both the T20I tri-series and the ODI series featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. This series would mark their second home series, with the focus now slowly shifting to the T20Is, citing the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

Pakistan defeated the last T20 World Cup finalists, South Africa, in a 3-match T20I series and then in the ODI series as well, both by a 2-1 margin. After the home series concludes, the Pakistan team has planned a series against Sri Lanka in the island nation, since they will be the official host of all the matches of Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
