Team India are scheduled to visit Sri Lanka later this month for the T20I and ODI series. India are scheduled to play three T20Is and as many ODIs.

The tour will mark the beginning of a new journey for Team India. For the first time, they will be coached by the newly-appointed Gautam Gambhir. After enjoying a successful journey with previous head coach Rahul Dravid, Team India will be embarking on a new journey this month and would be hoping that they make a winning start.

While the Indian team will have a new head coach for the tour, it seems like they will have to wait a bit longer to find out who the other members of the coaching staff will be. Along with Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip had stepped down from their posts as well.

And while the BCCI has announced Dravid's replacement, it is yet to announce the name of the other members of the backroom staff. According to a report in RevSportz, Team India could tour Sri Lanka without the new support staff members.

The report stated that the BCCI has not finalized any name for the support staff apart from Abhishek Nayar. Gautam Gambhir is expected to be accompanied by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) support staff.

Recently, reports stated that Gambhir had asked for Nayar and Vinay Kumar as the new batting and bowling coach respectively. And while the BCCI is likely to appoint Nayar as the batting coach, Vinay Kumar is unlikely to get the nod.

Several reports also stated that Gambhir wanted legendary Jonty Rhodes as the fielding coach of the team but the BCCI declined that proposal too as it did not want any foreigners in the backroom staff.

The T20I series is scheduled to be played from July 27 to 30 in Pallekele. It will be followed by the ODI series, scheduled to take place from August 2 to 7 in Colombo.
