Netherlands face a dominant England side at home for the third and final ODI on June 22. They are trailing 0-2 in the series and are looking for some inspiration to win the final ODI.
Netherlands skipper Pieter Seelar announced his international retirement from international cricket after persistent back problems after missing out in the second ODI. Scott Edwards led the side in the second ODI and will lead them again in the third. The side lost the first game by 232 runs and the second after posting 235 with the bat.
“Since 2020, my back problems got worse to such an extent that – much to my regret – I am no longer able to give everything I’ve got,” Seelaar was quoted as saying on television during the 2nd ODI.
As a side, the Netherlands now has two options. They can either play the same side and back them to win the game. Or else, they can try experimenting with the side by trying new players. They will be seeking a win at any cost to avoid a whitewash.
