Pakistan Cricket Team is going through a bit of turmoil at the moment. The Men in Green had a forgettable England Test Series where they lost the Tests by 3-0 where they lacked the intensity and the fire in the eyes. The omission of Ramiz Raja as the PCB Chairman has put the PCB in disarray.

Babar Azam led side couldn’t win the ODI Series against New Zealand after being 1-0 up where once again Pakistan’s middle order was exposed. There have been reports suggesting that Pakistan may have split captaincy in order to manage the work-load.

Shahid Afridi on PCB

Shahid Afridi was having an interaction with the media and was asked about the reason behind Shan Masood being selected for New Zealand ODI Series.”Shan Masood should not have been named as vice-captain of the ODI squad. Chairman of the PCB should have taken captain or chief selector under confidence; he was neither under consideration by me nor by Babar Azam for the first two ODI’s against New Zealand. “Shan Masood cannot be named as captain or vice-captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team based on his performances for Derbyshire,” said Shahid Afridi.

Concerns for Pakistan

Pakistan are already out of the World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) final race. Perhaps, PCB should bring back Sarfaraz Ahmed back into the ODI setup as he is someone who could provide stability to the team in the middle overs and play an impactful knock.

There have been talks going around that the entire coaching staff of Pakistan could be changed following the below-par home season. With less than a year left for ODI World Cup, PCB must select a pool of players and stick to it rather than chopping & changing which affects the team’s dynamics.
