The Netherlands named a new trio for the Bangladesh T20I series after former players Ryan Klein and Fred Klaassen were ruled out due to injury, and Saqib Zulfiqar decided to withdraw his name from the squad.
The Netherlands side has played only five T20s against Bangladesh, and this will be the first time they are touring the nation for an entire bilateral series. Ahead of the T20 World Cup next year, the series stands as a preparation for the men in orange under sub-continent conditions.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, would be eyeing this series as an opportunity to finalize the playing 11 for the Asia Cup. The three T20s will be played on the 30th of August, the 1st of September, and the 3rd of September.
Netherlands Squad: Scott Edwards (capt & wk), Noah Croes, Max O'Dowd, Vikramjit Singh, Aryan Dutt, Paul van Meekeren, Shariz Ahmad, Ben Fletcher, Daniel Doram, Teja Nidamanuru, Sikander Zulfiqar, Cedric de Lange, Kyle Klein, Sebastiaan Braat, and Tim Pringle
Netherlands hand maiden call-up for 17-year-old batter Cedric de Lange
The Netherlands has called in 17-year-old youngster Cedric de Lange, who has been performing convincingly in the domestic games and at the Under-19 level. The batter might be seen getting his maiden international cap in the T20I series against Bangladesh after a good show in the Pro Series.
"It's always exciting to bring a youngster into the squad," captain Scott Edwards said. "Cedric has been impressive all summer, and he's really earned this call-up. We're looking forward to seeing what he can offer us on this tour and, hopefully, across a long career ahead of him."
Sebastiaan Brat gets a Netherlands comeback after good domestic form
Braat returns to the Men on Orange camp after a long gap since he last played back in 2021, when he was picked to play against Nepal after having shown some irresistible form in domestic cricket.
"It's also great to welcome Sebastiaan Braat back into the side," Edwards said. "It's been a couple of years since he last played for us, but he's had a very strong summer at club and domestic level, and we're looking forward to having his experience back in the group as well.
Sikander cited for his long levers by the skipper Edwards
After Saqib Zulfiqar withdrew his name from the selections for the Bangladesh T20s due to some personal reasons, Sikander Zulfiqar was called back into the side. His absence has been for a long time since he was last seen in the T20Is back in 2019.
"Sikander has been a valuable member of our national team before, and I'm glad to see him back in orange. He's got a phenomenal ability to clear the fence late in the game, and I can't wait to see him back and amongst the group," said Edwards.
The Netherlands will next be seen in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka, as they have assumed the hosting rights for the tournament.
