Former England skipper Nasser Hussain expressed awe at Virat Kohli breaking legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most centuries in ODI cricket. Nasser Hussain highlighted that he never expected someone to surpass Sachin Tendulkar in his lifetime.

Virat Kohli made history during the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, notching up his 50th ODI century. The right-handed batter achieved this historic milestone in front of Sachin Tendulkar. He scored 117 runs off 113 balls, including nine boundaries and two sixes.

Virat Kohli Is The Best World – Nasser Hussain

Speaking on the Star Sports show ‘CRICKET LIVE’, Nasser Hussain described Virat Kohli as the modern-day master, labeling him a genius for achieving such a milestone with style and power.

“You could not write a better script, to be honest. I played against Sachin and I never thought I would see someone go past Sachin in my lifetime, to be honest. Sachin was the best batter I have ever seen. For this lad to do it on Sachin’s home ground with Sachin in attendance in a World Cup semi-final, with such style and power, it was just awesome. The modern-day master has just gone past the Little Master. He’s the best in the world, it’s as simple as that. He’s a genius,” Hussain told Star Sports.

The Delhi-born cricketer also broke Sachin Tendulkar’s (673) record for the most runs in a single World Cup edition. The 35-year-old batter has scored 711 runs in 10 matches at an average of 101.57. He has smashed five and a half centuries and three centuries.

Rohit Sharma Did What He Has Been Doing – Nasser Hussain

Nasser Hussain highlighted Rohit Sharma’s crucial role in providing a strong start for India in the World Cup semi-final. Hussain noted that Rohit’s powerplay innings dismissed talks of India buckling under pressure in World Cup knockouts.

“Kohli will get the headlines but Rohit did what he has been doing superbly at this World Cup. All those talks about India buckling under pressure in World Cup knockouts were out to rest by that innings in the powerplay by Rohit,” Hussain added.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will play against the winner of the semi-final between Australia and South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19.
