The Multan Sultans have proposed a bold plan to reshape the management and decision-making structure in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This proposal came shortly after the Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen’s mocking “apology” video to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
In a detailed letter sent to PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Tareen outlined a four-point proposal aimed at rebuilding trust between the board and franchises while making the PSL more professional and transparent. He pointed out that the league has often suffered due to sudden decisions, weak communication, and a lack of experienced management.
Ali Tareen pushes major reforms after mocking PCB apology
As reported by Cricbuzz, Tareen expressed concern over “ad hoc decision-making and limited management experience” and called for “institutional processes and accountability.” He called the PCB to “rebuild trust and professionalize the league's systems so that the PSL can reach its full potential.”

Tareen’s first demand calls for franchise representation on Pakistan Super League committees to ensure that key decisions are made collectively rather than unilaterally. Tareen suggested that each team should have a voice in areas like scheduling, player recruitment, ticket pricing, marketing, and match-day operations.
His second point stresses the need for structured hiring for the league's top positions, encouraging the inclusion of professionals from outside the PCB system rather than depending only on current or former board officials.

The third part of Tareen’s proposal emphasizes building a professional management setup with clear departments for operations, marketing, fan engagement, player affairs, and finance—each led by experts with relevant experience.
The final point focuses on better communication through regular meetings with well-defined agendas, ideally held every month, to ensure that every franchise stays informed and aligned with the Pakistan Super League direction.
Tareen’s suggestions come at a sensitive time, as the PCB is reportedly reviewing Multan Sultans’ ownership status and preparing for the league's expansion, with two new teams likely to join the league soon.
His open criticism of how the PSL is being run has received mixed reactions, with some seeing his ideas as necessary for long-term growth, while others back the PCB.

Ali Tareen mocks PCB in viral ‘Apology’ video after legal notice
Recently, the ongoing fight between Ali Tareen and the PCB has taken a fresh twist after the Multan Sultans owner released a sarcastic “apology” video on social media. The PCB had earlier sent him a legal notice, accusing him of breaking his franchise agreement and making negative comments about the PSL.
Instead of a normal apology, Tareen’s five-minute video turned into a full-blown mockery of the PCB. Speaking in a light, sarcastic tone, the Multan Sultans owner poked fun at the PCB’s attitude and suggested that the board only listens to people who agree with everything it says.
Tareen said in the video, “Only a big man apologizes. I apologize for wanting to make the PSL better… I apologize for raising my voice when I saw problems. It is my fault, not yours, that I was dissatisfied with your mediocre mindset. I apologize for being unhappy that you give yourselves so much credit for doing so little. I hope you like my apology video.”
