New Zealand To Tour Netherlands For 2-Match T20I Series In August
The New Zealand cricket team will embark on a tour of the Netherlands in August as part of their trip across Europe which includes matches against England, Scotland, and Ireland.
The games will be played on August 4 and 6 at the Voorburg Cricket Club in The Hague. Expectedly, the Dutch head coach was excited about the chance to play against the top ODI team in the World.
“The chance to play the best white-ball teams in the world has always been the goal for this team. To test our young players against them, as well as showcasing our skills in front of our home fans is so extremely exciting.”
“The Black Caps coming to The Netherlands again shows the respect we are building in world cricket and I hope all Dutch fans come out and enjoy the contest,” coach Ryan Campbell said.
“Playing against Associate teams as a Full Member nation is a really important” – New Zealand coach
Kiwi head coach Gary Stead also stated that the game will expand as more and more mainstream teams start touring associate nations. Of late, the Netherlands hasn’t had a chance to play high-level teams apart from South Africa tour, which got postponed due to covid complications.
“We’re really excited to be touring the Netherlands. Playing against Associate teams as a Full Member nation is a really important part of helping them grow, and that can only benefit the world game long term,” Stead mentioned.
The two teams are already playing a 3-match ODI series and one solitary T20I in New Zealand at the moment. The home team has taken a 1-0 lead after securing the win at Mount Maunganui.
