New Zealand will play a tri-series at home against Pakistan and Bangladesh, starting on Friday, October 07 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022. New Zealand has included fast bowler Blair Tickner in the squad ahead of the start of the series in the absence of Mitchell Santner.
Mitchell Santner has become a father for the first time and will not join the team until the weekend. Santner will be on parental leave to spend time with his family. Ish Sodhi is the only specialist spinner in New Zealand for the first match against Pakistan on Saturday, October 8. Michael Bracewell can bowl off spin when needed.
Blair Tickner was part of New Zealand’s squad against Ireland and the Netherlands, taking seven wickets in three matches. Tickner did not find a place in the World Cup squad.
New Zealand’s fast bowling department looks very strong for the World Cup, with four fast bowlers in Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, and Jimmy Neesham as a fast bowling all-rounder.
The 28-year-old has played 11 T20Is for New Zealand, taking 12 wickets with an economy of 8.79. With Trent Boult, Tim Southee, and Lockie Ferguson already in the team, Blair may have to warm the bench.
