Nicholas Pooran Joins Durban Super Giants As Wildcard Pick In SA20 Auction

West Indies power hitter, Nicholas Pooran will take part in the SA20 for the first time and the wicketkeeper batter was unveiled by Durban Super Giants as their wildcard pick. Pooran will represent the same owners he plays for in the IPL. Nicholas Pooran has recently shown his caliber in the Caribbean Premier League as he scored a 51-ball century against Barbados Royals playing for Trinbago Knight Riders, who went on to play in the finals of the CPL.

Nicholas Pooran was the highest run-scorer in the inaugural Major League Cricket Tournament which was played earlier this year in the USA. Pooran played a scintillating knock of 137 runs in just 55 deliveries in the Major League Cricket finals to make his team MI New York the champions of the inaugural tournament. With the amount of experience Pooran has in T20 cricket, he will be a key asset for Durban Super Giants in the SA20 League Tournament.

Nicholas Pooran has also led the West Indies side in the T20 World Cup in 2022. However, West Indies failed to qualify for the Super 12s of the tournament under his captaincy facing defeats against the likes of Ireland and Scotland. But having said that, there is no doubt about his capabilities as an explosive batter who can turn the course of a match in just a matter of few overs.

Nicholas Pooran has a lot of experience in the shorter format of the game. He has scored 5861 T20 runs at a strike rate of 144 across a career that spans 292 matches and 10 years. Nicholas Pooran is considered one of the modern-day greats in the T20 format and has been in top form in recent times.

He will join his IPL teammates Quinton de Kock, Kyle Mayers, and Naveen Ul Haq in the Durban Super Giants dressing room and will look forward to winning the SA20 league in his first season.
