West Indies star Nicholas Pooran revealed the full extent of the injuries he sustained while batting during the fifth and final T20I against Team India on Sunday (August 13).
The southpaw once again starred with the bat, scoring a fine 47 to help West Indies thrash India by eight wickets and clinch the five-match series 3-2. Batting first, India scored 165 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs. While most of the Indian batters failed to do well with the bat, in-form Suryakumar Yadav once again showed his class by playing a fighting knock of 61 runs.
He, however, could now power the team to a winning total in the series decider. West Indies chased down the total in only 18 overs and by losing just a couple of wickets. Opener Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran were the architects of the successful chase, scoring 85 not out and 47 respectively.
Nicholas Pooran came out to bat early once again after Arshdeep Singh dismissed Kyle Mayers in the second over. He and King then put West Indies on top by sharing a 107-run stand for the second wicket. Tilak Varma broke the stand when he had Nicholas Pooran caught at slip after the latter miscued a reverse sweep.
