"Nightmare continued": Mitchell Marsh reveals how his 4-year-old nephew turned Jasprit Bumrah to haunt him

Australia might have won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 but the allrounder Mitchell Marsh had a tough time during the series. Marsh started the series as his team's premier fast-bowling allrounder and a designated No. 6 batter.

However, he was dropped for the final Test after disappointing performances in the first four Tests. Marsh was unable to go past the fifty-run mark even once in the first four Tests and one of the main reasons behind that was Jasprit Bumrah.

Bumrah was all over Marsh in the series and the latter had no clue how to deal with him. He beat his bat a no. of times and dismissed him thrice in the series. Recently, Marsh revealed a hilarious incident related to Bumrah which had everyone in splits.

4-year-old Jasprit Bumrah knocks over Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh was present at the 2025 Australian Cricket Awards which took place on February 3 (Monday). The allrounder spoke about an incident when his nephew bowled to him with an action of Jasprit Bumrah. And guess what? Marsh's nightmare with this action continued.

“Actually my little nephew Ted, he’s four years old, we played backyard cricket the other day. He came in with (Jasprit) Bumrah’s action, and the nightmare continued (everyone starts laughing)!” Marsh said during the awards show as per Fox Cricket.

Mitchell Marsh on Australia's BGT 2024-25 win

Mitchell Marsh was further asked about his experience in the year 2024 by the boys from The Grade Cricketer, a popular cricket-related podcast show, during the awards. Marsh returned with another witty response in which he claimed that Australia played well with 10 players.

“It’s been incredible, really... capped off by the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and the way the boys played especially with 10 players, without me. They did really well,” the allrounder added.

By 10 players, Marsh referred himself to be an out-of-form player. He was in poor form throughout the series and it was one of the few things that didn't go Australia's way in this series.

Beau Webster replaced Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh scored 73 runs in seven innings he batted this series. He averaged just 10.42 with the best of 47. The allrounder didn't contribute much with the ball as well. He picked up 3 wickets in the series at an average of 46.33.

He was replaced by another fast bowling allrounder Beau Webster in the final Test in Sydney. Webster grabbed his chances with both hands and made vital contributions to Australia's victory in Sydney.

Webster top-scored for his team in the first innings with 57 off 105 balls and then remained unbeaten on 39 off 34 balls in the second innings. While he bowled a tidy spell in the first innings, he finally picked up his maiden Test scalp in the second innings.
