Nitish Kumar Reddy became the latest player in Team India to suffer an injury as the youngster was ruled out of the whole T20I series against England. Reddy was in the squad for the five-match T20I series and even played the first match of the series.

However, he sustained a side injury during the training session ahead of the second T20I in Chennai. After undergoing the scans, Reddy was ruled out of the whole series. Former India opener Aakash Chopra has opened up on the nature of Reddy's injury

Chopra feels that the workload might have increased on the young allrounder which increased the pressure on him. According to him, the heavy workload in the last few months might have worked against Nitish Kumar Reddy which had him injured.

Aakash Chopra breaks silence on Nitish Kumar Reddy's injury

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra spoke about the injury to Nitish Kumar Reddy which ruled him out of the entire T20I series against England. Chopra reckons that the workload of international cricket might have got to the youngster as he played all the five Tests in Australia.

"Nitish Kumar Reddy is injured. He has been ruled out of the entire series. You must be thinking, 'What would've happened?' I am wondering how this would have happened. When you start playing international cricket, the workload is different," Chopra said.

"Workload and pressure go hand in hand. He played 5 Tests in Australia. He performed there. He was on the ground consistently. He batted and even bowled a little. It takes a toll. Believe it or not, he is a young kid. The body sometimes doesn't last that long," he noted.

Nitish Kumar Reddy has been an integral part of the Indian team in both the Test and the T20I format. The allrounder has been impressive in both formats and has shown the temperament to score big runs.

"Maybe the body wasn't ready..." - Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra further gave his opinion and claimed that Nitish Kumar Reddy's body wasn't ready for such kind of a workload which led to the injury. Reddy was replaced by another fast-bowling allrounder Shivam Dube.

"Suddenly, you realise there is an injury. I think something has happened. Maybe the body wasn't ready for this type of workload and pressure, and he broke down. Shivam Dube has been called into the squad in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy," said Chopra.

Along with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Rinku Singh was also ruled out for at least the second and third T20Is. Rinku experienced a low back spasm while fielding in the first T20I. The BCCI is monitoring his body closely and he is likely to be back on the field soon.
