The 22-year-old became the third cricketer from his state to represent India in the 50-over format after Venugopal Rao and Ambati Rayudu.

Rohit Sharma's bold prediction for Nitish Kumar Reddy:
Nitish Kumar Reddy received his maiden ODI cap from none other than Rohit Sharma, one of India's greatest-ever ODI players. While handing the cap to the young allrounder, Rohit went on to make a bold prediction. The former India skipper backed Nitish Kumar Reddy to become an all-format great for the team.
"Cap number 260, Nitish Reddy, welcome to the club. You have had a great start to your career and it's only because of how you want to play the game and your attitude. I am 110% sure that with that attitude, you are going to go a long way in this Indian team," said Rohit.
"You are going to be an all format great which I believe thoroughly because like you said in your speech yesterday, you want to be everywhere. That is where we all want you to be. So, good luck and I am sure that the team will rally around you. Anything you need, any time you need anything, everyone will be there to support you. Good luck, have a great career," he added.
