The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed its T20I Team of the Year with none of the Indian players making it to the esteemed list.

Jos Buttler and Mohammad Rizwan were selected as the openers for the side. Buttler put on a stunning display in the T20 World Cup 2021 where he scored a century as well while Rizwan broke several records on his way to stardom.

Marsh was exceptional in his return to the national side. He received a push up the order and he made the most of it. Marsh accumulated 627 runs in 21 matches at an average of 36.88 and also contributed with eight wickets.

David Miller was the last genuine batter. Wanindu Hasaranga, who became the No. 1 spinner in the world, took 36 wickets in total in 2021, including 16 at the T20 World Cup which happened to be the highest. He also took a hat-trick against South Africa.

Tabraiz Shamsi, Josh Hazlewood, Shaheen Afridi, and Mustafizur Rahman were the four bowlers in the side. Shamsi took 36 wickets in 22 matches and was instrumental in South Africa’s 3-2 win over West Indies last year.

Hazlewood was very economical in the T20 World Cup and chipped in with wickets in the powerplay and the death overs. Rahman took 28 wickets in 20 matches at an economy rate of 7. Finally, despite the outing in the semifinal, Shaheen had a great 2021 where he picked up 23 wickets in 21 matches.
