Mitchell Starc, the veteran and currently the most legendary pacer in the Australian pace attack at Perth, has delivered when it mattered the most. Though the game has just begun, Starc's career-best bowling figures have already handed the Aussies the upper hand on Day 1.

England and Australia begin their Ashes campaign at Perth on Friday, the 21st of November. The Australian speedsters Josh Hazlewood and skipper Pat Cummins were ruled out ahead of the first Test, leading to a massive blow to Australia's campaign.

Steve Smith was roped in as Australia's stand-in skipper for the first Test, with Pat Cummins back in the nets and aiming for a comeback ahead of the next game in the Ashes.

Mitchell Starc breaks down England batters with career-best figures at Perth

The Bazball looked quite happy with Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood missing the first Test, as they would not have to face the dangerous Aussie trio. However, they just could not manage to keep Mitchell Starc off the game.

One of the strongest and most experienced limbs of the trio, Starc has played in Tests for Australia for around two decades now. He has often been called the greatest among Australian pacers of modern-day cricket and has 400+ Test wickets.

In his career, he has picked 735 International wickets across the three formats of the game. He produced a career-best performance against the West Indies in the second innings of play in the third Test at the Caribbean, where he picked 6 wickets, giving away just 9 runs.

He has now surpassed the former record against England with 7 wickets for the first time in his red-ball career. He is playing his 101st red-ball game and has broken the back of the English batters with the most crucial breakthroughs.

England pacers to also rally in at the Aussies on such a helpful track

Starc picked up 7/58 runs in the first innings and showed what Australia is capable of even if they lack their two most seasoned pacers. But England are not lacking any, they are in full force with Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse back in the hunt.

Though Ben Stokes' role with the ball remains under immense doubt, yet the England pacers will also relish bowling on this track. Archer dismissed debutant Australian opener Jack Weatherald on the very third ball of the spell.

With the legendary Australian red-ball cricketers Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith on the crease, the England pacers still continue to threaten, as Smith and Labuschagne are yet to break their shackles and have rather sustained some nasty blows to their bodies early in the innings.
