BCCI President Sourav Ganguly insisted that he cannot compare the current head coach, Rahul Dravid, with the former head coach, Ravi Shastri since they are completely different personalities with different strategies.

Shastri’s tenure ended after the T20 World Cup in UAE last year. He failed to win an ICC trophy and Dravid will be expected to do better with Team India in that aspect. Speaking about the expectations, Ganguly said they cannot be compared.

They are different people with different personalities. One is at you all the time which is his strength while the other will quietly do his job inspite of being one of the greatest of all time. No two people will be successful the same way,” Ganguly told PTI.

“As a coach also he will do a remarkable job as he is honest” – Sourav Ganguly on Dravid

Under Dravid, India has lost a Test series in South Africa but has continued its home domination. The combo of Dravid and new captain, Rohit Sharma, has been successful, winning all the games except a solitary Test against New Zealand.

He (Dravid) is as intense, as meticulous, and as professional as he was during his playing days.

“The only difference is that now he does not have to bat at No. 3 for India which I feel was harder since he had to face the best bowlers of the world which he also did exceptionally well for a long period of time.

“As a coach also he will do a remarkable job as he is honest and he has the talent. He will make mistakes as everybody does but as long as you try doing the right things you will achieve success more than others,” Ganguly added.
