Not MS Dhoni! S Sreesanth Picks Rahul Dravid As The Best Captain He Played Under

Former India pacer S Sreesanth has said that Rahul Dravid was the best captain he played under and not MS Dhoni. S Sreesanth also listed a crucial reason why he picked Rahul Dravid over MS Dhoni as his best captain.

S Sreesanth made his international debut in 2006. During that time, current India head coach Rahul Dravid was the captain of  Team India. Later, MS Dhoni became the new skipper after driving the Indian team to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007.

S Sreesanth Picks Rahul Dravid As His Best Captain

During a conversation with Sportskeeda, S Sreesanth was asked who is the best captain he has ever played under. To this, the 40-year-old took Rahul Dravid’s name. However, he also added that he was lucky to win two World Cups under MS Dhoni.

“I want to say MS Dhoni and naturally so because I was lucky enough to win two World Cups under him. But for me, it’s Rahul Dravid.

Sreesanth, who played for Team India from 2006 to 2011, also revealed a crucial reason why he feels Rahul Dravid was the best captain he played under. Sreesanth noted that Dravid backed him and gave him a break in international cricket.

“He (Raul Dravid) could have easily said, ‘I don’t want this new bowler. Give me my trusted one.’ But he backed me and gave me the break in international cricket. I am confident not many will agree with what I have said,” the former right-arm seamer further added.

S Sreesanth made his international debut in March 2006 in a Test match against England. At that time, Rahul Dravid was the skipper of Team India in all formats. Later, when MS Dhoni became India’s captain, Sreesanth won two World Cup titles under him.

S Sreesanth was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011. In both tournaments, the former right-arm seamer played in the final. However, shortly after World Cup 2011, Sreesanth played his last international match against England in August 2011.
