The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is still months away, but the India National Cricket Team captain Suryakumar Yadav is already dreaming of an epic rematch with Australia in the summit clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

India had suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the ICC World Cup 2023 final against Australia at the same venue—Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now, Suryakumar Yadav wants to turn this heartbreaking memory into a memorable one in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

Suryakumar dreams of beating Australia at Narendra Modi Stadium

Suryakumar Yadav was part of the Rohit Sharma-led Indian squad that won 10 consecutive matches before falling to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final at Ahmedabad. Since that loss on November 19, 2023, India has beaten Australia twice—first in the Super Eight match of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup and later in the semifinal of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.

Despite these victories, Suryakumar feels they have not taken that revenge and is keen on facing the mighty Australians in a title clash of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 and finally clinching the trophy at home, and that too at a venue where millions of fans watched heartbreak.

On being asked which team he would like to face in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final, Suryakumar Yadav has openly expressed his wish to face Australia in Ahmedabad, as it would be the perfect chance to settle the score.

She emphasized that beating Australia is always special, as those matches are the ones that stay in memory the most.
