Former Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar that England’s convincing Test series defeat in India served them a reality check. India consigned England to an innings and 25-run defeat in the fourth Test to win the four-match rubber by 3-1 and reach the ICC World Test Championship’s final. Shoaib Akhtar underlined that England needs to figure out how to play in the sub-continent.
England’s wheels fell off after securing a 227-run victory in the first Test in Chennai, headlined by Joe Root’s double-hundred. But even England’s best batsman could not stand up to the spin-bowling challenge the hosts threw in the next three Tests. The spin-bowling duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel challenged the tourists, tormenting them to win all of it comfortably.

Shoaib Akhtar reminded that England suffered an embarrassing defeat through India’s hands and that they need to learn to play in turning tracks. But the Rawalpindi Express was uncertain how the Englishmen were going to pick themselves up from this comprehensive loss.
“All in all, it was an embarrassing defeat for the England team, and they have got a reality check in India. But they need to now learn the art of playing spin in the sub-continent well. Not sure, how are they going to lift themselves up from this humiliating defeat and motivate themselves to play better,” Akhtar told in his Youtube channel.
If Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar can score runs, why can’t the English: Shoaib Akhtar

The 45-year old further stated that the wickets might be challenging to play on; however, India’s batsmen adapted well and England struggled. Shoaib Akhtar concluded that Virat Kohli’s men beat Joe Root & co. easily to progress to the ICC World Test Championship’s final.
“While many might talk about the wickets in the series, but look how India scored 365. They also played on the same wickets, where the England batsmen struggled. If Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar can score runs, why can’t the English. With utmost ease, India has beaten England in the series, and sealed a spot in the final of the World Test Championship final,” he added.
