Indian cricket team’s star wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav recently shared his admiration for Rohit Sharma's exceptional captaincy during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 while dedicating the prestigious cup to the hitman.

The Chinese bowler said that Rohit’s strategic planning and deep affection for the Indian team played a crucial role in their historic T20 World Cup 2024 triumph in the USA and West Indies. He said that Rohit not only emphasized intent and a proactive approach during team meetings but also implemented them on the field throughout the tournament.

By leading from the front, the Indian skipper set an example for the rest of the team, inspiring them to perform at their best, according to Kuldeep. The wrist-spinner has also emphasized that the T20 World Cup 2024 victory is a testament to Sharma's leadership, vision, and commitment. Notably, he didn’t get the opportunity to play in the USA leg of the tournament.

He also hailed Sharma's ability to combine tactical acumen with a genuine passion for the game in the tournament. Kuldeep played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph, taking 10 wickets while putting pressure on the opposition in the middle overs in the five matches that he played in the Caribbean Islands.

Kuldeep Yadav told Sports Today: “This World Cup was for him, the way he planned and the way he loved this team. The intent and approach that he used to talk about in team meetings, he implemented that in the tournament while batting, led from the front. So, this trophy is for him.”

Sharing his thoughts on Rohit, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja’s retirement from T20Is, Kuldeep noted: “There is probably no better feeling than this. In the final Virat bhai hit the 70-odd runs, won the player of the match. I am sure he will be very happy with his career in the T20 format, same for Rohit bhai. Jadeja as well, he played such brilliant cricket over the years.”

Meanwhile, Team India was stranded in Barbados for a few days after the T20 World Cup 2024 final due to Hurricane Beryl. Upon their return to India, the Indian players received an unforgettable welcome and celebrations in Delhi and Mumbai.

First, they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, and then they traveled to Mumbai for a victory parade and felicitation ceremony. The victory parade started from the iconic Marine Drive and ended at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where the BCCI held a facilitation ceremony for the T20 World Cup 2024 heroes on July 4.

The most incredible thing was that the huge crowd gathered along Marine Drive long before the Indian team was set to begin the victory parade, and Kuldeep said that it was just out of his imagination.

What is typically a 10-minute drive from Marine Drive to Wankhede Stadium took over an hour and a half for the open-top bus to reach the destination due to the massive crowd, celebrating India’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.

Kuldeep signed off by saying, “I'll never forget it. It was the first time I experienced something like that. Rohit bhai probably experienced that earlier as he had won in 2007. What happened in Mumbai was just unreal for me.”
