The senior South Africa National Cricket Team left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj castled the New Zealand National Cricket Team all-rounder James Neesham with an absolute ripper in the 32nd match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Wednesday, November 1 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
Maharaj was sensational with the ball against the Black Caps and he bagged four wickets in the match for 46 runs in his 9 overs. He picked up the wickets of Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, James Neesham, and Trent Boult.
However, the one wicket that stood out was the dismissal of all-rounder Neesham, who wasn???t able to add any runs to the scoreboard and was back in the hut for an 8-ball duck.
On the 4th ball of the 27th over, Maharaj bowled an 80.9kph flighted delivery outside off-stump and Neesham drew forward to defend. However, the ball took him by surprise as it spun back in sharply to go through the gate and destroy the stumps. The ball also took a thin inside edge on the way to the destruction. Maharaj was ecstatic and he celebrated aggressively.

In the end, the Black Caps were bundled out for 167 in 35.3 overs and they faced a massive defeat by 190 runs against the Proteas.
Speaking after the win over New Zealand, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said that they displayed a clinical all-round performance in the match. He said that the victory over New Zealand doesn???t guarantee them a semi-final spot, that???s why they will celebrate a bit before going back to work. Temba Bavuma elaborated:
???Clinical display I would say. We had a good partnership between de Kock and Rassie. Fairly happy, and clinical in terms of the execution by the bowlers. Quinny and I tried to assess the conditions. We pouched on the bad balls, was able to get a couple of away. Quinny wasn???t in his flow at the start but stuck to the plan ??? go unscathed till the 30th over and then maximize with our big hitters.
???We knew they were going to come hard at us, and we would get the opportunities. We did what we have been doing. Need to check with our (team) manager, but looks like this win does guarantee us a semi-final spot, so we???ll celebrate a bit tomorrow and back to work day after.???
