ODI World Cup 2023: India vs Pakistan Match Abolished As Pakistan Government Denies NOC To PCB For World Cup Participation- Reports

The much-anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place in October 2023 in India. It is assumed that this WC would reignite the 50 over World Cup where many experts have predicted the death of ODI Cricket. World Cricket would be eagerly waiting for the clash between India & Pakistan last time in the 2022 T20 WC, we witnessed a cracker of a contest.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has made it clear that India won’t travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 which is slated in September 2023. Asia Cup 2023 would be a stepping stone for the marquee event. In the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) board meeting, a decision was taken that the tourney would be played at a neutral venue and UAE has emerged as the likely venue.

Pakistan Federal Government on ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

Pakistan government official was seen having an interaction with The News and was asked the reason behind not granting NOC to Pakistan Cricket Team.

“We have some serious security concerns and hence cannot allow our cricketers to travel to India.” said the official.

Huge Blow for World Cricket

If Pakistan doesn’t participate for the WC 2023, then 3 teams would qualify from the ICC World Cup 2023 Qualifiers which are scheduled in June. It won’t be wrong to say that indirectly Pakistan has boycotted the ODI WC 2023 as it is reported that Asia Cup 2023 rights would also be snatched away from Pakistan if the tournament gets played in UAE.

Pakistan can be banned from the sport if they boycott the ODI WC 2023. ICC must intervene into this matter and find a middle ground the rivalry of India & Pakistan is considered to be the greatest. It would be a huge loss for World Cricket as India & Pakistan are considered to be the prodigies of World Cricket where they have remarkable legacies.
