Australia wins the third Test against Pakistan at the SCG to clean sweep the visitors. David Warner scored 57 in his last innings in the red-ball format to give a fitting farewell to a stellar career. During the post-match presentation, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood gifts David Warner a Test jersey of Babar Azam with the whole squad’s signature as a parting gift.

Recently, the Indian cricket team also presented Dean Elgar with a signed jersey of Virat Kohli as a farewell gift as he played his last Test in Cape Town. Pakistan lost the Test series against Australia and their wait for a Test victory on Australian soil continues. The Men In Green have not won a single Test match in Australia since 1995 when Wasim Akram was the team’s captain.

Pakistan were bowled out for just 115 in their second innings giving an easy target of 129 to Australia in the last innings. Australia chased the target in just 26 overs to end the match. David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne put up a 119-run stand together to put Australia on the verge of victory. Pakistan suffered a shambolic defeat in the series as Australia registered a clean sweep against them.

David Warner said farewell to this format of the game with a memorable innings. It has been a memorable series for Warner as well. He started the series with a bang scoring 164 in the very first innings of this series at the Optus Stadium in Perth and now ended the series with a 57 on his home ground in Sydney. David Warner had a spectacular Test career for Australia. He ended up being the fifth-highest run-getter for Australia in Tests. Warner ended up with 8786 runs in 112 Test matches that he played in his career. He scored 37 fifties, 26 hundreds, three double hundreds and a triple hundred in his career. His triple hundred came against Pakistan at the Adelaide Oval back in 2019.

Pakistan has always been David Warner’s favourite opposition. In Test cricket, David Warner has scored six centuries against Pakistan which includes a triple hundred and has an average touching 75 against them in Test cricket. He announced back in June that he wanted to end his Test career at the SCG against Pakistan and he finally retired on his terms with a memorable innings of 57 in his last Test innings.

David Warner announced his ODI retirement alongside his Test retirement and will now focus on T20 cricket. He is hoping to play in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and will retire from international cricket after the World Cup. He will now play cash-rich T20 leagues and will make the most of his final years in the game. Warner’s next assignment from here will be playing in the BBL which is going on currently.
