Former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath shared a special message for David Warner ahead of his Farwell Test. He said he wants batter to go out with a positive mindset and end his career with the big hundred.

It will be the end of the era in Australia Cricket as David Warner will be playing his last Test for the team. The batter will sign off from the longest format of the game after the upcoming third Test against Pakistan, set to take place at Sydney Cricket Ground on 3rd January.

David Warner announced his retirement from Test cricket way back and told everyone that he wanted to finish in front of his home crowd. The batter has been in great form in the ongoing series and has played some stupendous innings as well, helping his team to win.

David Warner started the series with a century in Perth and played decent knocks in the second game in Melbourne. He would be hoping to end the series on high and make his team win by playing a memorable knock in his last game.

Ahead of David Warner’s last Test, Glenn McGrath hoped that the batter could out on high. McGrath advised him to be positive and asked him to play like he did during the Perth Test. He stated (as quoted by PerthNow):

“Go out, be positive. We saw him come out and get a good hundred over in Perth, just going back to the way he plays. Hopefully he can go out on a high. It’d be great to see him get a hundred here in front of his home crowd.

“You’re a long time retired, and I guess I only had one fear when I played, and that was if I walked off the field at the end of the day and didn’t back myself on the field. I love seeing sportspeople go out and play without fear and I think he does that.”

David Warner also shared his emotions ahead of the last Test of his career. He stated that he was a boy from the housing commission and has always tried to play in the exact same way.

David Warner said that he still has the hunger to score runs and that he wants to leave behind the legacy in which everyone would play freely. He explained:

“(I was) a boy from the housing commission having a dream. I’ve not always fitted the mould, but I’ve been authentic and honest. I think that shows you on the field in Test cricket, I’ve played the exact same way.

“I’m even playing lap shots like I do in T20 cricket. I’m still trying my best to get better even in this last Test. I’m hungry to score runs. I just want to leave behind that you can go out and play the way you want to play.”

David Warner in a shocking turn of events also announced his retirement from the ODI cricket. He, however, mentioned that he will be available to play Champions Trophy 2025 if the team needs his services. Coming to the ongoing series, Australia have already sealed the series by a margin of 2-0.
