Australian opener David Warner had a brilliant career for his team and now is playing his last Test series against Pakistan. Warner slammed a brilliant century during the first match of the series and played a knock of 164 runs during the first innings of the Perth Test. Australia registered a 364-run win against Pakistan and added necessary points to the World Test Championship 2023-25 points table.
The Australian team is yet to find a replacement for David Warner after he retires from Test cricket. Warner and Usman Khawaja added a 90-run stand for the first wicket during the first day of the Boxing Day Test wherein Warner played an innings of 38 runs.
While David Warner mentioned Matt Renshaw as his replacement when he was asked the question about his replacement in July, now Warner believes that Marcus Harris has always been in the front row to replace Warner.
After Australia finished Day 1 of the second Test between Australia and Pakistan at 187/3 in 66 overs, David Warner came up to appear in the press interaction. Answering the question about his replacement, Warner believes that Marcus Harris is the best batsman to replace him in the Test series against West Indies next month. Marcus Harris scored a hundred in the warm-up match against Pakistan last week and is in brilliant form.

David Warner said, “It is a tough one (and) it is obviously up to the selectors. But from my position, I feel like the person who has worked their backside off and has been there for a while in the background (is Harris).
“Harry’s been that person who has toured (and) he scored that 100 the other day and missed out in another couple of games but he’s always been the person who’s next in line. So if the selectors show their faith in him, then I’m sure he’ll come out and play the way he does. You know, he’s not too dissimilar to me.”
David Warner has played a total of 111 Tests for the Australian cricket team and has scored 8689 runs at an average of 44.78. He has also scored 26 centuries and 36 fifties at a strike rate of 70.31. Warner’s highest score has been 335* runs.
David Warner was not in the best of forms at the start of this year and the critics wanted him to be removed from the team. However, Warner displayed a brilliant comeback in the 2023 ODI World Cup and hit 535 runs from 11 matches. He also hit two centuries and two half-centuries.
Now, when David Warner is all set to retire from Test cricket, he might get more time with his family and also play T20 leagues in all parts of the world.
David Warner will also be seen playing for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2024, and will once again want to score runs for his team and make them win their first IPL title.
