Australian captain Pat Cummins took a friendly jibe at Pakistan Cricket Team’s director and head coach Mohammad Hafeez’s statement team’s performance after the conclusion of the second Test at MCG.

As per Hafeez, Pakistan played better cricket than Australia in the second Test match of the Test series.

Mohammad Hafeez had said, “The whole game I will sum up, our Pakistan team played better than the other team in general.”‘

However, Australian captain Pat Cummins gave a savage response to Mohammad Hafeez’s statement. Cummins stated that it was cool that they played well and we got the win. Pat Cummins said, “Ahhhh. Cool. They played well. I am glad we got the win. It doesn’t really matter, does it? It is the team who wins at the end.”

It was yet another Test series loss for Pakistan in Australia after losing the second Test match by 79 runs being played in Melbourne. The Australian team was good enough for Pakistan on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test and wrapped up Pakistan’s second innings for a score of 237 runs while defending 317 runs.

Australian captain Pat Cummins picked up ten wickets in the whole match. Cummins picked up fifers in both the innings and wrote the script of Australia’s dominant win. With the win Australia took an unassailable lead in the series with the third Test all set to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney from January 3, 2024.

There were several reasons why Pakistan lost the second Test match against Australia. First was the sloppy fielding, on Day 1, the Pakistani fielders dropped quite a few catches in the field out of which the simplest was of Australian opener David Warner which was dropped by Abdullah Shafique in the slips.

The ball was at a catchable height and also at a great angle, but due to the misjudgment by Pakistani fielder Abdullah Shafique, he missed out on the catch.

Apart from the sloppy fielding, it was the bowling that once again let Pakistan down. Pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has not been able to lead from the front in the bowling department and is not bowling at his full pace. Afridi’s swing and pace have declined in the last few days and it has become easier for the batsmen to play against him.

However, the biggest reason is the non-performance of former captain and ace batsman Babar Azam. Babar has been one of the top batsmen of the modern-day era, however, his performance has not been much appealing in the past few times.

Babar Azam was just able to score 42 runs in the second Test match as he got out for 1 run in the first innings whereas was only able to score 41 runs in the second innings. Babar has not been able to score runs against big teams which has been the major reason for Pakistan’s failure in international cricket in recent times.
