Iceland Cricket could not stop themselves from having some fun at the expense of the Pakistan team after the latter???s loss against South Africa in the ongoing ICC Men???s Cricket World Cup 2023. Pakistan locked horns against the Proteas in a must-win clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Having lost three games in a row, the Men in Green needed to win against South Africa to stay in contention for the semifinals. However, they ended up losing the game by 1 wicket. And although the defeat has still not knocked them out of the World Cup, their chances of progressing ahead are extremely slim. They need nothing less than a miracle to qualify for the semifinals of an ODI World Cup for the first time since 2011.
Batting first, Pakistan came up with yet another disappointing display. At one stage, they were reeling at 141 for 5. Saud Shakeel and Shadab Khan then steadied the ship with a fifty-plus stand but failed to finish the innings strongly. They departed in quick succession and Pakistan lost their last five wickets for 45 runs to be all out for 270.
In reply, South Africa chased down the total in the 48th over. The Proteas held their nerves to cross the finishing line after suffering a collapse towards the end. At 235 for 5, the African team was looking destined to chase down the total with ease. However, they lost 4 wickets including that of a well-set Aiden Markram to find themselves reeling at 260 for 9. But Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi shared an unbeaten 11-run stand to take their team home.

Soon after Pakistan suffered another defeat in the ongoing competition, Iceland Cricket decided to troll them. They posted a sarcastic post on X (formerly Twitter) and asked Pakistan to stop playing silly global tournaments like the World Cup and play a tri-series against them.
