Pakistan captain Babar Azam‘s meteoric ascent in international cricket, as well as his ability to set new marks across forms, has caused fans and analysts to compare him to modern-era great Virat Kohli. However, in a scathing message to supporters, a former Pakistan cricketer slammed Babar for his batting and heavily criticised his captaincy during the present Test series against England.

Danish Kaneria stated on his YouTube channel that no player in Pakistan’s current batting lineup should be compared to India legends Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Pakistan Failed To Produce Results Under Babar Azam: Danish Kaneria

Kaneria’s remark occurred during the third Test between Pakistan and England in Karachi, where the tourists need 55 runs more with eight wickets in hand to inflict a dreadful whitewash on the Babar-led side.

“People should stop comparing Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are very big players. Pakistan have nobody in their team who can be compared to them. If you make them talk, they will be a king. When you ask them to produce results, they’ll be zero,” he said.

Babar Azam Is Not Capable Of Leading The Team: Danish Kaneria

Kaneria further criticised Babar’s leadership skill in the Test series, labelling it “nothing”. He believes Babar is unable to lead Pakistan in the red-ball format and should instead learn from England captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum.

“Babar Azam is a big zero as captain. He doesn’t deserve to lead the team. He is not capable of leading the team, especially when it comes to Test cricket. He had a good chance of learning captaincy by looking at Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum during the series. Or, he could have kept his ego aside and asked Sarfaraz Ahmed how to captain,” he added.

In the Karachi Test, Babar fought valiantly against the England attack, reaching a second consecutive fifty and stitching a 110-run partnership with Saud Shakeel. However, rookie Rehan Ahmed’s five-wicket haul left Pakistan with a 166-run advantage at the end of their second innings.

Abrar Ahmed struck twice at the end of Day 3, but England are well on their way to completing a clean sweep in Karachi, needing just 55 runs to win.
