PAK vs NZ: Former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif spoke about Imad Wasim’s snub from the Pakistan squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. He said that it was an injustice for the all-rounder and while admitting about the differences between him and skipper Babar Azam, he made a point, saying that both are sensitive to not fight over small issues.

Pakistan is all set to host New Zealand for the white-ball series. The two teams will clash with each other in 5 T20Is and 5 ODIs from 14th April to 7th May. The hosts have announced their squads for both series. Skipper Babar Azam will captain the team in both T20Is and ODIs whereas Imad Wasim has only been selected for T20Is.

With the kind of performance Wasim exhibited in the domestic circuit and recently concluded PSL, it was expected that he would make a return to the ODI squad as well. But various media reports have suggested that skipper Babar wasn’t interested to get the all-rounder in the 50-over squad.

Following the reports, Rashid Latif has given his take on Imad’s snub from the team. He admitted that it was an injustice for the all-rounder but highlighted that both the players are big performers and are mature enough to not fight over small issues. He explained.

IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)

“There won’t be an issue right now, but there might be an issue in the future depending on performance. No problem should arise, as both are sensible guys. They are big performers for their franchises and for Pakistan.

“There is no doubt that injustice happened with Imad Wasim. He has come back into the team after performing and not through the back door. Differences exist between top players in top teams, but they do not reflect on the ground or in their performances.”

It is learned that the differences between Babar and Imad arose when Karachi Kings handed the leadership of their team in PSL to the current Pakistan skipper. The all-rounder was disappointed with the management and Babar as well for the lack of trust in him.
