PAK vs NZ: Multan Unlikely To Host 2nd Test Match Pakistan vs New Zealand Due To Foggy Conditions

Pakistan Cricket Team is all set to lock horns against New Zealand for the 1st Test Match starting from 26th December (Monday). The Men in Green still has a slim chance of making it to the World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) final as they have to beat New Zealand comprehensively.
New Zealand will have a new skipper in the form of Tim Southee as earlier Kane Williamson had resigned from the post. In 2021, New Zealand pulled out of the Pakistan tour in the middle citing security reasons. It would be interesting to see whether the tour goes ahead under the new PCB Chairman Najam Sethi.

Multan Unlikely to Host 2nd Test Match
Due to low air conditions at Multan, there are chances that the 2nd Test Match which is scheduled to play on 3rd January 2023 may be shifted to another venue. Multan had hosted an England Test match but now the air quality has gone worse. Karachi may be the preferred venue as the 1st Test Match is scheduled there. The other option is Lahore but their AQI is 500 which is 25 times above the acceptance level.

Exciting Series on Cards
The Black Caps would be keen to spoil the party of Pakistan as they are out of the WTC race. The pitches most likely would be spin-friendly where New Zealand batters would be tested. It would be interesting to see how Tim Southee fares as we have often seen the burden of captaincy affects a player’s game.
According to some reports, it is believed that Babar Azam would be sacked from the captaincy following the Test Series defeat against England. The batter would be eager to make a statement by playing a fearless brand of cricket as the batter had a topsy-turvy Test Series against England where he couldn’t perform in crunch situations.
