The Pakistan national cricket team is set to travel to New Zealand for a series comprising ODIs and T20I matches in March next year. The white-ball series between the Men in Green and the Black Caps will be played after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held in Pakistan.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and CEO of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Scott Weenink met at the PCB headquarters, Gaddafi Stadium, on Thursday. Naqvi and Weenink discussed upcoming cricket engagements between Pakistan and New Zealand during the meeting.

COO PCB Salman Naseer and Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla joined Mohsin Naqvi and Scott Weenink for the meeting. They focused on the ongoing Pakistan-New Zealand series and Pakistan's upcoming tour to New Zealand, which comprises five T20I matches and three ODIs.

The Team Is Very Close To Our Hearts - Mohsin Naqvi

Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the country’s interior minister, stated that he oversees all arrangements and security measures for the New Zealand team. The PCB chief emphasized the importance of the New Zealand team to Pakistan.

“Looking after the New Zealand team is our responsibility. The team is very close to our hearts and I am monitoring the whole arrangements as well as the security arrangements for the tour,” Naqvi said.

Scott Weenink stated that he was happy with the facilities and arrangements during the New Zealand team's recent visit to Rawalpindi and Lahore.

“I am very happy with the arrangements at both these places,” said Weenink.

Weenink stated that New Zealand will tour Pakistan for a tri-nation series ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy. Pakistan will host the tri-series, featuring South Africa and New Zealand, in February 2025. South Africa and New Zealand want to acclimate to the conditions for the ICC event.

Pakistan last hosted a tri-series in 2004, featuring Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The series took place in various cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Karachi, and Peshawar. The Sri Lanka team won the final encounter against the Pakistan team by 119 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

Pakistan To Face New Zealand In Fifth T20I on April 27

The first T20I of the five-match series was abandoned due to rain. Pakistan won the second match by chasing a 91-run target. However, New Zealand, led by Michael Bracewell, bounced back strongly and secured back-to-back victories to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

The fifth and final match between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, April 27. The home team cannot win the series even if they secure victory in the upcoming match.
