New Zealand is all set to lock horns against Pakistan for a white ball leg series, T20Is starting from 14th April. New Zealand’s star players won’t be present due to IPL commitments. Umar Akmal once again has been ignored by PCB which is quite a surprise. Umar had a staggering strike rate of 186.27 as he scored 95 runs in 5 innings.
Pakistani fans would be hoping that Babar Azam turns the tables as earlier, the Men in Green lost their first T20I Series against Afghanistan when Shadab Khan was in charge. It would be interesting to see Ish Sodhi fares as he will have to lead the spin attack in the absence of Mitchell Santner (*playing for CSK).
All eyes would be on Ihsanullah as the right-arm pacer had a terrific PSL 2023 and Afghanistan T20I Series. With 5 T20Is aligned up, the management should rest one of Haris Rauf or Naseem Shah and give Ihsanullah a chance as the Men in Green should manage the workload of fast bowlers.
I still cannot comprehend why he isn’t being given a chance- Kamran Akmal
Kamran Akmal was seen speaking on his YouTube channel and spoke about Umran Akmal. Kamran Akmal was quite astonished that Umran Akmal wasn’t given a chance to showcase his credentials.
“I am talking about Umar. They announced the T20 team and didn’t include him in the squad; why? He played last year’s PSL and this year’s PSL in rather tough conditions. He tried his best to deliver whenever given an opportunity, a chance, limited amount of balls or overs, etc,” said Kamran Akmal.

IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
“I don’t need to explain or tell anyone; everyone is well aware of the reality. Yet, I still cannot comprehend why he isn’t being given a chance in the national team, particularly on the batting number where almost every player has been tried,” he added.
“It is clear as a bell that performance isn’t the criteria here” – Kamran Akmal
Kamran Akmal was quite furious at PCB as he took a dig at them by saying that performance is no longer a criteria to play for the team. Kamran Akmal stated that Umar Akmal plays for the team rather than for himself. Kamran Akmal also pointed out that scores around 30-32 are also important in the match.
“The performance of all these players is crystal clear in front of everyone; despite that, you are still not including Umar because he isn’t in the likings or good books of the selection committee? Or because Umar is less hyped than others because he plays for the team?,” said Kamran Akmal.
“Or maybe because he doesn’t greet you guys well, doesn’t invest a lot of time in flattering – only this is what I can conclude as to why he isn’t a part of the national team. Because again, it is clear as a bell that performance isn’t the criteria here since players with scores around 30,32 as their highest are still part of the team,” he added.
