Sri Lanka have put in their one leg in the final of the Asia Cup 2023. The Dasun Shanaka-led side have displayed a staggering performance and are inching towards a win against Pakistan in the ongoing virtual semi-final at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Sadeera Samarawickrama has been the key architect behind that as he has batted staggering well in the chase of 252 runs. After Sri Lanka two wickets early, the right-hander along with Kusal Mendis took the game away from Pakistan and gave fans everything to cheer about.

Sadeera Samarawickrama played some crisp shots and batted with a lot of maturity. He didn’t take any undue risk as he played ball in gaps and hit timely boundaries as well. However, he got a nasty hit on the head by Shaheen Afridi, which saw a pin-drop silence at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

It was during the last ball of the 28th over when Shaheen Afridi bowled an effort ball and delivered a staggering bouncer. Sadeera Samarawickrama tried to pull but he failed as he copped a blow on his helmet that looked quite serious.

Sadeera Samarawickrama got hit just above the eyes and he immediately took his helmet off and called physios. He then underwent a concussion test and thankfully he was alright. As he was back on his feet, the crowd let out a big cheer. Here’s the video of this incident.

PAK vs SL: Sadeera Samarawickrama falls short of 50 by 2 runs

Sadeera Samarawickrama fell short of a well-deserved fifty by just 2 runs. He batted staggering well but unfortunately got out just ahead of the milestone. He fell prey to Iftikhar Ahmed as he got himself stumped to end their 100-run partnership with Kusal Mendis.

Iftikhar Ahmed bowled a length ball outside off. Sadeera Samarawickrama came down the track and tried to turn it leg side. But the ball went on straight and beat him on the outside edge. Mohammad Rizwan took the bails off in a flash. He fell for 48 runs off 51 balls with the help of four boundaries.
