The International Cricket Council (ICC) found Pakistan batter Gull Feroza guilty of violating a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match against Australia on Tuesday.
As she breached the rules, the council has handed the Pakistan batter one demerit point amid the ongoing T20 World Cup. Regarding the development, the council has issued a detail via their official website.
Pakistan Women's team cricketer, Gull Feroza, threw her gloves aggressively on the ground
Out of aggression, Gull Feroza was spotted throwing her gloves on the ground near the team dugout after losing her wicket. The act was reported by the match officials, and an action has been taken as per the rules. Feroza has accepted her actions and admitted the offence she made during the match against Australia.
“Feroza was found to have violated Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which covers the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match,” ICC informs in their official statement.
A 113-run win for Australia Women's
Talking about the match, Australia handed the Pakistan Women's cricket team a brutal defeat on June 23 at the Headingley Carnegie in Leeds. The Women in Green lost the match to the Australia Women's team by a massive 113-run difference as the Fatima Sana-led team bundled only for 86 runs against Australia's first innings of 199 runs. It was a total batting collapse for Sana and Co.
Gull Feroza, who walked in to bat as the opener, was dismissed for only 1 run, facing three balls only. She was dismissed through a runout. Because of a miscommunication with his opening partner, Muneeba Ali, she had to lose his scalp. The runout was crucial in the contest. Feroza was absolutely furious during her return, and when she reached their dugout, she threw her gloves aggressively on the ground.
That action displayed by the Pakistan batter did not go well with the match officials. As this is Feroza's first incident of violating the rule over the last 24-month period, ICC has punished her with one demerit point.
ICC further mentions, "The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Sue Redfern and Vrinda Rathi, third umpire Jacquline Williams, and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir Jesy. Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player's match fee, and one or two demerit points."
Pakistan is yet to win a match in the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup
For their next match in the group stage of the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup, Pakistan is scheduled to face the Netherlands on June 27 at the Gloucestershire Cricket Ground in Bristol. So far, the Women in Green remain winless in the title race as they have lost in all four matches that they have played. They had to taste the defeats against the arch-rival India, South Africa, Bangladesh, and Australia, respectively.
