Mohsin Naqvi will replace Zaka Ashraf as the next PCB Chairman as per reports in PAK Passion. Pakistan have been in woeful form in international cricket in recent times. He was serving as the caretaker Chief Minister of the Punjab Province.
Pakistan lost five games in the ICC World Cup 2023. They lost a Test series against Australia followed by a T20I series loss against New Zealand. They were trailing 4-0 in the previous game and then managed to get a consolation win in the fifth T20I.
Shaheen Afridi has had a terrible start to his captaincy career. He lost his first four games and was very expensive with the ball as well. Ashraf resigned his post after Pakistan’s loss in the fourth T20I.
Pakistan’s recent string of performances in the World Cup followed by the Test series loss to Australia and another T20I series loss to New Zealand might have influenced his decision. A lot changed under Zaka’s tenure as PCB Chairman with Babar Azam removed as captain across formats to changes in the administration as well.

The fourth T20I loss has big repercussions for the Pakistan Cricket Board. PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf resigned from his post following Pakistan’s fourth consecutive toss. The Test series loss against Australia followed this shambolic loss against the Kiwis forcing Ashraf to vacate his post.
This is Ashraf’s second tenure as the chairman of the PCB and his recent tenure is considered to be one of the worst in the history of Pakistan Cricket. He assumed the post on July 7 with Pakistan building up for the World Cup.
However, the team lost seven matches in the tournament followed by shambolic performances against Australia and now New Zealand. A lot changed at PCB under Zaka Ashraf.
He first removed Babar Azam as captain across formats expecting better results. He also changed the entire administrative system. However, nothing yielded any positive results.
Pakistan’s performance in the tournament was reviewed by the PCB who then decided to change the entire coaching and administrative setup. The PCB also changed with Mohammad Hafeez taking over the team director role from Mickey Arthur and former cricketer Wahab Riaz being appointed as the new PCB chief selector. Shaheen Afridi is the new T20I skipper who will be leading his team for the first time in T20Is.
Pakistan’s Test series whitewash was also a talking against Australia. None of the players were able to withstand the pressure from the Australian players. The batters let themselves down and the bowlers too did not exert too much pressure on the opposition.
The T20I series loss against New Zealand was a glimpse of the team’s inability to adjust to different conditions. Former Australian cricketers slammed the current Pakistan side as the worst touring team from Asia to Australia. Pakistan have now played 39 T20Is against New Zealand having won 17 matches and Pakistan 21. The Kiwis had just 13 T20I wins against Pakistan before the start of this series.
