The Pakistan National Cricket Team was left disappointed after the India National Cricket Team players chose not to shake hands after their Asia Cup 2025 game on Sunday, September 14, in Dubai. Now, the handshake controversy took an ugly turn with the official complaint from Pakistan.
The Pakistani players, coaches, support staff, and team management watched helplessly as the Indian players avoided the customary handshake and closed their dressing room door immediately after they won the Asia Cup 2025 game by seven wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

This incident has left the Pakistan camp disappointed and frustrated. Even the Pakistan captain, Salman Ali Agha, didn’t attend the post-match presentation ceremony in protest of India’s behavior. He reportedly went to the Indian dressing room, but none of the players came to meet him.
Adding to the controversy, the Pakistan cricket team manager, Naveed Akram Cheema, has officially filed a complaint. As reported by Revsportz, Cheema raised objections to the behavior of the Indian players and support staff, especially their refusal to shake hands and shutting the dressing room door right after the match.

More Development to follow soon #INDvsPAK#IndiaVsPakistan
Even during the toss, Salman Ali Agha and Suryakumar Yadav did not exchange a handshake, and now the latest development has only escalated the tension between Pakistan and India. However, the Men in Blue will not face any consequences of their boycott of the customary handshake procedures, as there are no rules enforcing friendly gestures.
Handshake boycott escalates India-Pakistan rift
Actually, it is being said that the Indian team wanted to send a clear message that they are ready to compete but are not ready to extend any friendly behavior toward Pakistan in the wake of the terror attack in Pahalgam, which led to military conflict between the two nations.
Interestingly, during the Asia Cup 2025 captain’s meet, Suryakumar Yadav had shaken hands with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi as well as with Salman Ali Agha. For this gesture, Suryakumar had to face massive criticism.
But after the match, the Indian captain, along with his teammate Shivam Dube, headed straight to the dressing room without engaging further. While the Indian players and staff exchanged embraces among themselves, there were no handshakes extended to the Pakistan side.
Coach Mike Hesson slams India over handshake controversy
Reacting to the controversy, Pakistan’s head coach Mike Hesson expressed his disappointment as his team was ready to shake hands. Hesson said in the post-match press conference, “We were ready to shake hands at the end of the game. We are disappointed that our opposition did not do that.”
He further added, “We went over there to shake hands, but they had already gone into the changing room. It was a disappointing way for the match to finish, and in a match where we were disappointed with the way we played. Certainly, we were willing to go and shake hands.”
Notably, Kuldeep Yadav (3/35) and Suryakumar (47*) were the standout performers during India’s dominant victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 clash on Sunday in Dubai.
