Pakistan To Play In Road Safety World Series For The First Time- Reports

A Pakistani team will feature in the Road Safety World Series for the very first time this year. A T20 league featuring former international cricket players from around the around, the Road Safety World Series was founded by Ravi Gaikwad, the chief road traffic officer of Thane in collaboration with the BCCI, and is played every year to raise awareness about road safety.

The tournament began in 2020 and had to be postponed after four matches due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The remaining matches were played in 2021. A total of seven teams – India Legends, Sri Lanka Legends, South Africa Legends, West Indies Legends, England Legends, Bangladesh Legends, and Australia Legends – participated in the competition.

Australia Legends played 1 match against Sri Lanka Legends and forfeited their remaining matches as they could not travel to India due to COVID-19 restrictions. India Legends won the inaugural edition by beating their Sri Lankan counterparts.

The second edition of the tournament took place in 2022 with a total of eight teams participating. The seven teams from the first edition were joined by New Zealand Legends. India Legends won the second edition of the tournament too.

Pakistan Team To Play In Road Safety World Series:

The third edition of the Road Safety World Series could see a Pakistani team featuring in it, according to ESPNcricinfo. Due to the strained relationship between the two countries, Pakistani teams have been barred from playing bilateral series in India. The Pakistani players are also not allowed to play in the IPL.

However, the Pakistani team would be allowed to play in the Road Safety World Series as the competition is likely to be held outside India for the first time. According to the report, the upcoming season will be held in England and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already given the green light for it. The report also stated that the tournament is likely to be played in September.
