The star wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is full of confidence after being appointed as the new white-ball captain of the Pakistan National Cricket Team.
Mohammad Rizwan has made a bold claim ahead of the start of his tenure as the full-time captain, saying that he will lead Pakistan to a series victory over Australia Down Under.
Mohammad Rizwan to start his tenure as captain in Australia series
Rizwan will commence his tenure as captain in the ODI series against the Aussies. The matches between Pakistan and Australia will be played on November 4, 8 and 10. After that, the two teams will lock horns in the three-match T20I series on November 14, 16 and 18.
Pakistan have been a terrible touring country when it comes to visiting Australia. They last won a bilateral ODI series in Australia in 2002 when the Waqar Younis-led side beat the Ricky Ponting-led team.
Also, the previous ODI victory of the Men In Green over the Aussies on Australian soil came in 2017, and the T20I win in 2010. In the last ODI and T20I series between Australia and Pakistan Down Under, the hosts won by 4-1 and 2-0.
Isme koi shaq nahi ki hume Australia mae difficulty hui hai - Mohammad Rizwan
In a video shared on the official X handle of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Rizwan admitted that the Pakistan National Cricket have had a tough time in Australia. However, he urged the Pakistani fans to keep their belief in the team this time around as they travel to Australia. Mohammad Rizwan stated:
"Isme koi shaq nahi ki hume Australia mae difficulty hui hai, kyuki jab aap past ka result dekhengena toh result hume ye batata hai ki waha hume thoda trouble hua hai magar mere khayal se jo team waha jaa rahi hai quam humse umeed rakhe."
(There’s no doubt that we’ve faced difficulties in Australia because when you look at the past results, they show that we had some trouble there. But I believe the team going now will meet the nation’s expectations.)
Inshallah, Australia ko Australia mae haraenge - Mohammad Rizwan
Speaking further, the optimistic Mohammad Rizwan said that they were very close to winning the matches in Australia in their last tour, but in the end, they fell a little short. He stated:
"Last series jab humne Australia mae khele thi toh aisa hi tha ki hum haar match jeetne waale thae, bilkul close jaa kr hum haare hai." he added. (In the last series we played in Australia, every match was almost ours to win, but we lost very closely)."
Rizwan added that they have noticed certain things and patterns from their previous tours and will use those lessons to clinch a historic series win in Australia this time around.
"Humne kuch chizo ko notice ki hai aur waha jaa kr unpe kaam kare or usme se hum positive le. Inshallah, Australia ko Australia mae haraenge." (We have noticed a few things and will work on them when we go there, taking positives from it. Inshallah, we will beat Australia in Australia.)"
