Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Harshal Patel opened up about his muted celebrations after taking the wicket of MS Dhoni in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He said that he has too much respect for the keeper-batter and that's why he didn't celebrate.

Harshal Patel was the key performer with the ball for Punjab Kings in the ongoing game against Chennai Super Kings. The fast bowler produced a magnificent spell of fast bowling and made sure that he helped his team restrict the opposition to a low total.

Harshal Patel bowled sensationally well in the death overs and made run-scoring hard for the Chennai Super Kings batters. The fast bowler also stunned the crowd when he sent MS Dhoni packing for a golden duck at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

During the 5th ball of the 19th over, Harshal Patel bowled a slower ball off-cutter on the stumps that dipped on. MS Dhoni had no clue about it as he tried to bring his bat down. The ball went past the weak swipe to the leg and the off-stump was pegged back to send the keeper-batter packing for a golden duck.

While Punjab Kings fans at the stadium went berserk, Harshal Patel didn't celebrate much. The fast bowler came up with just a hand raise and went on to bowl his next ball. That caught the attention of many and the video went viral on the internet.

Here's the video:

Harshal Patel talked about why he didn't celebrate the wicket of MS Dhoni. He stated that he didn't want to do any celebrations because of his respect for the CSK batter. He also talked about the conditions and stated that the ball started reversing. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

"Wicket was on the drier side. I have too much respect for him to celebrate when I get him out (on Dhoni). One of the advantages of playing a day game is that the square is quite rough. So the ball starts reversing. In my first over it was reversing."

Have been practicing in the nets - Harshal Patel on his slower balls

Punjab Kings fast bowler Harshal Patel also talked about his slower balls, stating that it comes with practice and the more he bowls the better he gets. The pacer admitted that batters don't read his slower balls and it's a great sign for him. He added:

"It's all about the feel of that delivery (slower one). The more you bowl the better you get. Most batters don't pick it. Have been practising in the nets, and when it comes out it gives you great results."

Harshal Patel returned with figures of 3/23 in his four overs. His brilliant effort with the ball saw Punjab Kings restricting Chennai Super Kings to a total of 167/9.
