MS Dhoni, on Sunday (May 5), had a rare failure with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024 as he failed to provide the finishing touches to the Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing game against Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

The former India and CSK skipper has been very impressive with the bat in the death overs this season. Before the game against PBKS, he had scored 110 runs in 47 balls with the help of 10 fours and nine sixes. However, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman failed to finish the innings strongly for his team on Sunday as Harshal Patel dismissed him for a golden duck.

MS Dhoni walked out to bat in the 19th over of the CSK innings after Harshal dismissed Shardul Thakur on the fourth ball of the over. And on the fifth ball, the PBKS pacer struck again to send back MS Dhoni. The right-arm pacer completely outfoxed MS Dhoni with his slower yorker.

The experienced batter failed to pick up the variation from Harshal and ended up playing early. The ball sneaked under the toe-end of the bat before crashing into the stumps.

For PBKS, Harshal continued his fine display with the ball and picked up three wickets for 24 runs. He is now the joint leading wicket-taker in IPL 2024. The fast bowler has picked up 17 wickets in 11 games so far. Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar also played a big role with the ball, taking 3 for 23 while Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets.

In their last game, PBKS thrashed CSK by seven wickets as they chased down 163 with ease and will be eyeing another victory today.
