Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Tushar Deshpande is making sure that he keeps his team in the hunt in the ongoing game against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match between the teams is underway at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

After posting a total of 167 runs, Chennai Super Kings have started off brilliantly with the ball. The main architect behind that has been fast bowler Tushar Deshpande, who produced a magnificent first over that he bowled and put his team at the top in what is a must-win game for them.

Tushar Deshpande first sent Jonny Bairstow packing and then made sure that he closed the over pretty well. The fast bowler removed Rilee Rossouw on the last ball of the over and made sure that Punjab Kings got under pressure at their home ground.

Tushar Deshpande bowled a sharp length delivery that skidded on. The ball beat Rilee Rossouw for pace as the batter was last for defense. The ball rushes past the bat to disturb the furniture. The pacer was pumped up after taking the wickets as CSK was off to a dream start.

Here's the video:

Rilee Rossouw bagged a three-ball duck as Punjab Kings came under pressure. After that, Prabhsimran Singh (30) and Shashank Singh (27) batted well to keep their team in the hunt. However, after that, nothing went their way as they lost wickets quickly and couldn't get going.

Punjab Kings could manage just 139 runs and lost the game by 28 runs to suffer their 7th loss of the season. Going ahead things would be tough for them as competition for the playoff spot is getting intense as each day passes in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Chennai Super Kings on the other hand with the win entered the top 4 of the points table. They bagged the third spot in the table and would be keen to win the next few games to keep themselves in the hunt for the title.

I wanted to give my best - Tushar Deshpande

Tushar Deshpande, who returned with the figures of 2/35, talked about his performance with the ball. He expressed his delight in winning the game, saying that he wanted to give his best having missed the last game. He added that

"Very happy today because it was a low-scoring game. This was the game we wanted to win badly. (On how he felt coming back from illness) | tried my best to play the last game but couldn't. It was in my mind that I wanted to give my best.

"It was a crunch game. At high altitude, the ball does something and my job was to take wickets. (On the pitch) It was a bit slow if we bowled into the pitch. We knew if we hit those lengths, it was tough to play horizontal shots," he concluded.
