Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tim David opened up about his match-winning knock in the 42nd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). He hilariously said that the team has given sleepless nights to skipper Rohit Sharma by not playing well but eventually have something to celebrate.
Tim David was the hero for Mumbai Indians in their 6-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday (30th April). The hard-hitting batter did what Kieron Pollard used to do for the team for many years and guided them to the win.

Chasing the target of 213 runs, after MI lost skipper Rohit Sharma (3) and Ishan Kishan (28) early, Suryakumar Yadav (55) and Cameron Green (44) kept them in the hunt but they lost their wickets at the crucial junctures of the game. They needed something special and Tim David did exactly that.
The lanky Australian batter came out all guns blazing and blasted unbeaten 45 runs in 14 balls to register the highest-ever chase at the Wankhede. What was the main highlight of his innings was when MI needed 17 runs in the last over, he smashed 3 consecutive sixes to steal the game.

After the game, Tim David had a conversation with Tilak Varma, who remained unbeaten on 29 runs in 21 balls. The duo shared a stand of 62 runs in just 23 balls for the fifth wicket and made sure that they help their side win the game.
Tim David said that he’s excited to be having an impact on the game and also lauded Varma for playing a few good strokes despite not being in rhythm.
He said: “This season I have been sitting and watching you and Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) smacking the ball around. I am so excited to be having an impact and putting in a performance for the team. It’s nice having your trust at the other end.
“Feeling amazing. Great to have gotten over the line, with your running down at the other end. Great feeling, can’t get better. Some days we have different rhythms. Today you weren’t in your rhythm but you played some important shots as well.”

He elaborated: “A very happy birthday to our skipper Rohit. We have been giving him sleepless nights by not playing very well so finally tonight, we have got something to celebrate for him.”
Mumbai Indians now have won 4 games out of their 8 encounters in the league. They are currently 7th on the points table and will next be seen in action when they will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their next game on Wednesday (3rd May).
